Learn about bird flu, also known as avian influenza, which is an illness that infects birds and many other animals, including poultry and dairy cattle. Bird flu can also infect people with a mild sickness or a more serious illness.

Employers who have or work with animals, including dairy cows, poultry, other animals, and their waste are at risk of exposing employees to bird flu (H5N1).
